Where to Find Gluten-Free Pizza in California

Posted on November 8th, 2010 by Alison Read 9 Comments - Add Your Own »

pizza1A few years ago, gluten-free pizza was nowhere to be found, but now many pizza restaurants are catering to the needs of those with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. While there still isn’t much variety in the actual crust that the pizza places are using, at least there are a variety of places to go and get it!

Below are the names of restaurants that offer gluten-free pizza, the gluten-free crust they use (if I know), their location in California, and other products of interest they serve. Please let me know if there is another to add to the list, and please call the restaurant first and make sure they have gluten-free pizza available when you are going to be there.

Restaurants that offer gluten-free pizza in California:

Because so many places are using Still Riding pizza crust, here are the ingredients in case you have other sensitivities: Bean flour, rice flour, tapioca flour and starch, xanthan gum, salt, yeast, egg, cider vinegar, sugar, canola oil, calcium propionate.

Stay tuned for another post on store-bought pizza and making your own pizza!

  1. Holy cow! I had NO idea that all of those restaurants in CA offered gf pizza. I So am bookmarking and sharing this one with all of my CA peeps. Plus, we have a place in Oceanside, CA so we spend a lot of time in Southern California and there are quite a few So Cal restaurants on that list. Love this one! Wow!
PS still owe you an email with links. Was out of town this weekend so did not get to it. ;)

  2. Fitness Pizza in Yorba Linda. The personal size pizza can be made gluten-free.

  3. This is super informative. Thank you! Have you tried Amicis? Been meaning to take the kids there for a while…

  4. Also, Pizza Guru in Santa Barbara has really yummy gluten-free pizza with all the fresh, local toppings they can muster. Pretty sure they buy their crust frozen, but not sure what brand it is. Also, several varieties of gluten-free European beer.

  5. Thanks Alison,
I have added it to the list!

  6. I love Mariposa Bakery and buy their gluten free crust all the time! Even my non gluten free boyfriend and friends love it.

Woodstock’s Pizza in Davis is also offering gluten free crust now, although I haven’t tried it. http://www.woodstocksdavis.com/ They do warn that they can’t guarantee that there hasn’t been cross contamination.

  7. I am 40 and going to a hormone specialist. He just informed me to stay way from wheat flour, I am guessing that means gluten free?? Are there any gluten free pizza places near San Luis Obispo?? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thank you, Adrienne

  8. Add Woodstock Pizza in Santa Cruz. Best crust I’ve tasted anywhere!

Also add Disneyland! They use Kinnikinnick for everything else, but I believe they use Venice Bakery for the pizza. (I think Garlic Jim’s also uses the same.)

  9. There are a bunch more pizzerias in Santa Barbara that offer GF pizza. Pizza Mizza, Taffy’s, and Woodstock’s. For more information, visit glutenfreeinsb.wordpress.com
