Foods or ingredients that definitely are or contain peanuts:
- Peanuts
- Peanut butter
- Peanut flour
- Peanut oil, arachis oil (peanut oil)
- Artificial nuts (peanuts that have been deflavored and reflavored with a nut, such as pecan or walnut)
- Mandelonas (peanuts soaked in almond flavoring)
- Mixed nuts
- Ground nuts
- Nut meat
- Beer nuts (peanut with a glaze)
- Goobers (chocolate-coated peanut)
Ingredients that may contain peanuts:
- Natural and artificial flavoring
- Hydrolyzed plant protein
- Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
Things to watch out for:
- Baked goods such as cakes, muffins, cookies, pastries
- Cereals, muesli, trail mix, granola and granola bars cereal bars
- Crackers
- Asian food
- Egg rolls (used to make them stick together)
- African food
- Ice creams
- Marzipan
- Nougat
- Candy and chocolate
- Chili
- Sauces (such as enchilada sauce)
- Seasonings
- Sunflower seeds (often processed on shared equipment with peanuts)
- Nut butters (often processed on shared equipment with peanut butter)
- Tree nuts (due to cross-contamination with peanuts)*

The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) mandates that foods labeled on or after January 2006 must declare peanuts in plain language either on the ingredient list or by using the words “Contains peanut(s).†Foods that were labeled before January 2006 are not subject to this law, so ingredients will need to be read carefully
