I was never much of a cake-lover, so when I got married I decided to do something different. The wedding location was my family’s vacation spot where I grew up sitting around the bonfire at night, and of course, making S’mores. So that was it — we had S’mores at our wedding! My husband and I even ceremoniously roasted the marshmallows and fed each other the S’mores as if it were cake. Kind of corny (pretty sure husband was thoroughly embarrassed), but memorable (and so was the smoke!)
When I was diagnosed with celiac disease 3 months later, I said goodbye to gluten and to S’mores. I have continued to roast marshmallows over the years (they are gluten-free) and have even tried to make a sandwich using gluten-free cookies, but none really reminded me of the real thing. I even tried making mock graham crackers from scratch, but that is a lot of work and requires planning ahead.
So you can see why I would be excited about a new product called S’moreables Graham Style Crackers, made by Kinnikinnick! And let me tell you, my girls are excited too. S’mores can also be dairy-free if you use dark chocolate. (Although there are no egg or nut ingredients, the box of S’moreables states that they may contain traces of eggs and tree nuts.)
The taste of these cookies is like a graham cracker, the texture crispier. One thing I noticed is that after the box had been opened for a few days, the cookies got softer and became more like a traditional graham cracker. Another thing to note is that the cookies have a line to show you where to break them, but it is totally impossible to actually break them on that line — my recommendation is not to break them and just make a double S’more instead!

Mmmmmmm, smores! 🙂 my family loves to camp, so Smores remind me of all the times we camped in the White Mts and ate Smores until our stomachs hurt (maybe it was just me…) and lit marshmallows on fire. I would LOVE to be able to enjoy this treat again!
Keep up the good work!

My husband and I made S’mores in our hotel room on our honeymoon using our fireplace! We sandwiched our marshmallows between 2 pieces of chocolate because we didn’t have GF graham crackers.
Suzanne says
OH my goodness! I’ve been having chocolate/marshmallow smores! This will COMPLETE my camping trips! I would love to win, what a fantastic giveaway!

YUM! We just introduced our Spanish exchange student (he’s here for the month of July) to S’mores. He loved them! And he has Celiac Disease, so he was thrilled that we had GF graham crackers for him to try.
Mackenzie says
I love smores so much that I must have them all year. By topping your graham cracker with the chocolate and then the marshmallow and microwaving for 10-15 seconds, you can have smores anytime!
Heather@CeliacFamily says
Yay! Another graham cracker alternative! I will have to try sticking the chocolate into the marshmallow to melt. Here’s what I’ve been doing: When using a microwave, I first microwave the chocolate on the graham cracker for about 5 seconds, then add the marshmallow for another 10-15 seconds of nuking. Another way to make sure the chocolate is melted is to use a softer chocolate. I love the Lindt squares, they’re the perfect size and melt quickly.

I’ve always found that camping was the best time to have smore’s. The one memory that really sticks out is the time I burned myself with the marshmallow I was toasting. It had caught on fire and I was going to blow it out, instead it hit my cheek and I got a major burn. But, that didn’t stop my smore eating for the night!
Allyson says
I tried making my own gluten-free graham crackers once. They tasted pretty good but I couldn’t get them rolled out thin enough. They made for very crumbly s’mores but worked perfectly as a pie crust 🙂 I can’t wait to try these!

Would love to have s’mores again. Have fond memories of camping, flaming marshmallows and s’mores.

When I was a little girl they didn’t call them smores, we just knew we liked gram crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows all smushed together, miss those day with my grandmother and father out in the nature camping, they are gone now, but I can bring their memory back, at least for awhile with this new product (S’moreables Graham Style Crackers) can’t wait.

I’m really excited to hear about these S’moreables. I used to love eating Smores and I truly do miss them. I haven’t seen this product around yet in the natural food store that I frequent, but I hope to soon! I loved eating Smores, and eating marshmallows in general, when I was a kid. I had perfected a way to get the the burning of the marshmallow on the outside while having a gooey inside in about 5 seconds flat 🙂

My husband has celiac and we were thrilled that he can once again enjoy s’mores at the bonfires we have several times a year with friends in our backyard. Thanks Kinnikinnick!

My adult children have learned to accomodate my celiac husband and I quite well. They set up the fire pit almost every time we get together in the summer, roast marshmallows with us and the grandkids, and we each assemble our own version of a s’more. My husband and I usually have open-faced s’mores on a Pamela’s cookie. I’ll be requesting the new GF graham crackers at my store now that I know there is a good tasting one available!

Kinickkinnick (sp?) is my favortie GF maker. They’re making me feel almost normal with these Smoreables. Also, if you haven’t tried their bun/bread mix, then you’re missing out on having hamburger/hot dog buns that “pass” for the real thing. I ordered real bun baking pans from King Arthur Flour and use this mix and HONESTLY…it’s the best GF buns out there. Thank you Canadian bakers!!

S’mores always remind me of Girl Scout Camp and the wonderful times I had there. My son had missed graham crackers so much after being diagnosed 4 yrs ago and he’s 19 yrs old. I found the S’moreables about a month ago and it has been non-stop ever since. I usually buy 4 boxes at a time and still have a hard time keeping them in the house. He absolutely loves them! Thanks Kinnikinnick for another fabulous product!

Thank you for finding these crackers, I read your post just in time to send my daughter to camp. Her plan was to put the marshmallows in between two pieces of chocolate but now I will try to purchase these crackers before she leaves. Today while viewing the post I was suprised to see both my book and the Multi Blend flour mix advertised together on your site. Soon we will relaunch the book (at an affordable price rather than the used book price on Amazon) and we just completed a 3rd revision of the book to be available on DVD so you can print any recipe you wish off your computer. I look forward to reading more on your site.

We used to have family night as kids. It was always on a Saturday night. It was the only time we were all together in one spot. One Saturday night in winter, we had a fire in the fireplace and my mom thought it would be a great idea to make s’mores in the fireplace! I have such incredible memories from that night. It was so much fun for my sister and I. I have celiac disease and was sad that I couldn’t do that with my kids because graham crackers are out of the question. But now, I am so excited to hear about this new product! Thanks Kinnikinnick!

my husband and I are big into junk food ! ( not the best for our health), but bad habits form early. well, we are doing much better w/ the little ones, lots of whole grains and fruits n veggies. so, when they get a special treat like Smores
Its so fun to see how happy they are. Its just the best treat ever ! unfortunately, our son was diagnosed with autism. as such, we went to the gluten/casein free diet. we have had astronomical results ! he is doing so well ! and on a sad note he was not able to enjoy our special treats w/us. this frustrated me so much.
I searched and searched and finally one day at native sun grocery store…… they had made gluten free gram crackers! I grabbed 2 boxes . that weekend we had a bbq with friends, and we ALL had Smores !
Missy says
Have missed them so much!!! Been roasting marshmallows on my stove and sticking the choc inside. Not the same, the graham crackers would be awesome. Would love to win a sampling. Just recently found out and am beginning to learn and try gluten free products for the past couple months.

what memories! i’ve been dying to find gluten free graham crackers 🙂

I hate camping but I love s’mores. I remember having big bonfires with church groups and eating s’mores. These will be great to bring back the memories and teach my children how to make a s’mores since they haven’t had any. And the tip on making a double s’more-what a wonderful idea. Can’t wait!!

My 10year old autistic son had his first gfcf s’mores this weekend and LOVED them!!! He wants more!! He had never eaten s’mores before gfcf and wanted to try them while camping and then kept asking for them. Would post pics if I could.

Thanks so much for the info on smoreables. My daughter has celiac and loves smores but we haven’t been able to find the right graham cracker. I also love the Kinnickinnick cakes because she actually thought they were not gluten free because they tasted too good, so I’m hoping the grahams will be just as good. I also use them as a pie crust for cheesecake. I will definitely be looking for them in the store. Thanks.

Cool! My son doesn’t like chocolate (what’s up with that?) so he just eats the marshmallow smushed between. Funny.
Renee Nelson says
S’mores…YUM, my girls and I love them. It is too hot in Texas to camp so we use the gas stove and viola s’mores. My son just likes them with chocolate or cream cheese frosting. We have had great fun with these new treats! Kinnikinnick has improved the continuity of family eating. Love the s’moreables

I baked some GF graham crackers for our first camping trip of the year. The s’mores were delicious–almost a whole meal in itself! YUM.
I’d love to be able to find these so I don’t have to bake more!

I don’t have any special s’mores making secrets particularly – it’s been a while. But I have such fond memories of making these at the campfire as a child and teenager, I’d love for my daughter who is gluten-free to be able to experience that as well, and thankfully a product like this makes that possible!

We have been enjoying smores for years – on canoe trips and around the campfire. They remind me of summer and good times!
Maggie B. says
Have been gluten free for over 10 years now and s’mores are the one thing I still crave. Especially in the summer hanging out with my nieces and nephews during their summer vacations. Such fond memories of my own childhood associated with this delectable treat that I’ve ordered some of these to enjoy in the next couple of weeks of Auntie time. So looking forward to satisfying this craving.

the first time i had smores was during an elementary school project where we made little “ovens” covered with foil to place out in the sun to melt our smores. however, the sun wasn’t out on the day of the project and pretty much nothing melted!

My daughter has never had S’mores because of allergies. Winning these cookies would be great. We can use her allergy-free chocolate chips and stuff them inside the marshmallow as you suggested. She would love this.

Hi Alison,
we’re going camping in 2 weeks—-where can I purchase these? Do I need to send away, or does Whole Foods carry them?

Steph,
I haven’t seen them for sale anywhere around the Bay Area yet, but I would call around! Otherwise, do Amazon or you can order directly from Kinnikinnick.
