Pumpkin seeds are delicious and packed with nutrition, having one of the highest protein contents of any seed or nut. They are also a good source of minerals, fiber and healthy omega-3 oils. Though most nut-allergic individuals can tolerate seeds, the seeds are often made in a facility with nuts, presenting the risk of cross-contamination.
I like to make my own pumpkin seeds when I carve pumpkins in October, and if I’m cooking a butternut squash, I’ll toast those seeds too, but I was looking for some safe pumpkin seeds for the rest of the year for my daughter who is allergic to nuts.
In my search, I came across SuperSeedz by Kathie’s Kitchen. I love the taste of these pumpkin seeds! I am addicted to the Sea Salt ones, but all of the flavors are fun and delicious: Coco Joe, Curry, Really Naked, Super Spicy, Somewhat Spicy, Sugar & Cinnamon, Tomato Italiano. All flavors are naturally vegan, gluten free, tree nut free, peanut free, dairy free, MSG free and soy free!
I used SuperSeedz for two recipes in an article I wrote for Gluten-Free Living magazine called Aw, Nuts: Balancing a Nut-Free, Gluten-Free Diet.

Hi Alison,
What a great giveaway! I’ve actually tried SuperSeedz before, because they’re a safe snack for our food-allergic house! I have celiac disease, and my son has a big handful of food allergies, but these are safe {and delicious}! The store where we’ve found them has a pretty hefty price tag, so we only buy them occasionally – winning this giveaway would be amazing! 🙂

How cool! My little one just recently got to try his first nut free candy bar (he’s 4) and we have since been finding new things like this to give him. He is in absolute heaven when he gets to try something new! Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this awesome giveaway.

I would love to win these – my daughter is nut allergic and as you said, it’s SO hard to find allergy-friendly seeds. 🙂 It’s good to know there are soem out there. Thanks for this post.

Trying to find seeds that do not have warnings about CC with wheat or nuts is hard, trying to also avoid flavorings with MSG makes it more difficult, and trying to find seeds that also taste good…practically impossible. Would love to try these! Thanks for always being a strong advocate.

Living gluten, dairy and sugar free here. Excited about the giveaway and that you are promoting such a great product. I generally avoid most packaged products because I never know what they contain because labeling can be so deceptive and you never know what other things companies do during processing.I’m especially afraid to eat anything seasoned with spices because of this fear so it is great when you can promote products with integrity and save us the time and headache. Thank you so much and look forward to hearing who wins :O)

It is so encouraging to see more and more gluten free products hitting the market. I have been gluten free for the last 5 years and it’s amazing how much has entered the marketplace. I love the Sure Free Living site because it helps take the guess work out of eating healthy while on a gluten free diet. And we all know that even though it says ‘gluten free’ does not mean it’s healthy. So, here’s to a job well done. I look forward to receiving your newsletters and love your contests. Never have found any really good pumpkin seeds so I hope I can win a package to try. Thanks again:)

I would love to win these pumpkins. They sound wonderful. We have 3 members in our household who have to eat gluten free diets and I am always looking for delicious, healthy snacks for my 2 athletic daughters! As we live in a somewhat rural area, there is not a big selection of gluten-free products for us to choose from.

It would be great to try some pumpkin seeds without having to worry about cross contamination issues. I am always glad to see small companies that are creating products for those of us with multiple food restrictions.

My son is almost 3 yrs old and has allergies to milk, soy, oat, tree nuts, peanuts, coconut & mustard. He was diagnosed with food allergies at 4 mos old. It has been a challenge finding allergy friendly foods for him especially since I want him to have as wide of a variety of foods as possible. So, I try to find new foods all the time. These look great and are healthy too.
I started a playgroup that is allergy friendly bc I found that most of the regular playgroups include foods like ice cream or pizza. This way our food allergy kids have a safe environment to play and meet other kids with food allergies so they know they are not alone. As group leader, I try to get samples of safe foods and share them with the group. I have also started a allergy friendly recipe group on facebook.

I have been challenged with hives and a rash all summer and as a result I have been taking potential allergens out of my diet (in addition to having celiac disease). Pumpkin seeds seem to be working for me and they are tasty and satisfying. I have not tried any of the flavored varieties and they sound so yummy! Would love to try these!!!
